New Hope® Publishers is pleased to announce the release of Faith & Foster Care: How We Impact God’s Kingdom by Dr. John DeGarmo. Filled with personal stories and Scripture, Faith & Foster Care shows how you can practically and specifically live out your faith in foster care ministry. An encouraging resource for novice or experienced advocates and parents, specific issues addressed include: how to be an effective advocate, advice on marriage and foster care, how to love the foster child and biological family, how to pray for your foster child and their biological family, and how to let go when they leave. See how your actions have a far-reaching impact on God’s kingdom when you live out your faith.

Faith & Foster Care is truly an inspirational book directed toward the Christian foster parenting audience. The personal stories woven throughout the book from other foster parents make the book relatable and inspirational. Reading stories from those who have walked the faith-filled fostering journey provide a unique, profound voice to the book. The added Scripture passages help readers identify areas of the Bible that directly relate to foster care, adoption, and the call that many foster parents experience. This book is definitely ideal for those looking for a Christian-based perspective on foster parenting and could benefit from a deeper, more inspirational look at how fostering impacts lives.” —Kim Hansel, editor of Fostering Families Today magazine

Faith & Foster Care was a real ‘shot in the arm’ for me as I read it and reflected on my years as a foster parent. Reading so many real-life antidotes from others who shared so many of the same experiences as my family did was validation of our work, commitment, and the role our faith played in everything we did as foster parents. This is a must-read book for foster parents and other caregivers. It is honest about the challenges of fostering while speaking eloquently to the blessing it is to the foster parents, the children, and the birth parents of the children receiving foster care services. Job well done, Dr. DeGarmo, job well done.” —Irene Clements, executive director of the National Foster Parent Association

Dr. John DeGarmo has an impressive and diverse educational background, but it is his passion and willingness to actively serve as a foster parent, speak about foster care issues, and train others about the foster care system that makes him an inspiration. A dynamic speaker, he travels extensively meeting with foster parents, child welfare workers, churches, schools, and organizations. Host of the weekly radio show Parent Talk with Dr. John, he is also the author of the highly inspirational book Fostering Love: One Foster Parent’s Journey. He and his wife, Dr. Kelly DeGarmo, are parents to six children—both biological and adoptive—and currently serve as foster parents to five children. Their household of 11 calls Georgia home
